Chelsea FC Injury Update: Colwill, James, Madueke, Chukwuemeka
Chelsea currently sits in the top four of the Premier League as the October international break approaches. This suggests that the rebuilding project is gaining momentum. One key factor contributing to this progress is the reduction in injuries compared to last season. However, the club still faces a considerable injury list, which includes Levi Colwill, Reece James, Noni Madueke, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Omari Kellyman.
Let’s take a closer look at each player’s situation. Fortunately for Chelsea and their supporters, the injuries have not affected some of the team’s most crucial and influential players.
Reece James
Undoubtedly one of the most injury-prone players in Chelsea’s history, Reece James was initially thought to be close to returning from his hamstring injury. However, a recent setback in his recovery leaves his return date uncertain.
Levi Colwill and Noni Madueke
Both players were substituted early in the recent draw against Nottingham Forest, but neither injury is considered serious. Manager Enzo Maresca reassured fans, stating, “I think they are both okay when they went inside [to the changing room]. We will see, but I don’t think there is any problem there.”
Carney Chukwuemeka
Currently not a significant part of the squad, Carney Chukwuemeka has missed the last few matches due to an unspecified illness. “Carney was in the squad [for Gent] but didn’t feel well during the night,” Maresca explained last week. “He was ill; this is why he wasn’t in the squad [when the team sheets came out].”
