Liverpool Transfer Rumor Refuted as Chelsea Confirm ‘No Interest’

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher will not be joining Chelsea, with the Blues confirming they are “not interested” in a move for the 25-year-old Irishman.

A report from The Sun had suggested that Chelsea were planning a summer transfer swoop for Kelleher as a potential replacement for Robert Sanchez, whose performances this season have come under scrutiny after several mistakes led to goals.

However, Football.London reporter Bobby Vincent has stated that Chelsea “retain full belief” in Sanchez and have no plans to replace him at this time.

Chelsea are reportedly “confident in the goalkeeping department,” with Filip Jorgensen currently serving as the backup goalkeeper and Mike Penders set to join from Genk next summer.

Caoimhín Kelleher, however, has expressed his desire for more regular playing time and revealed in September that he informed Liverpool of his intention to seek a move elsewhere. Despite this, Liverpool have rejected several transfer bids to keep him at Anfield.

Kelleher stated, “I made it clear in the last few years that I want to go somewhere and be a number one. The club has decided to bring in a goalkeeper (Giorgi Mamardashvili), which suggests they are heading in a different direction. Liverpool have rejected a few bids, and it’s not always in my hands to make the decision. My ambition is clear – I believe I’m good enough, and I want to play week in, week out.”
