I recently did my first ever bike tour! It was such an amazing experience that I had never imagined myself doing before.
It was also my first time biking over long distances (>100 km) in one go!
I rode from Pokhara to Kathmandu via Chitwan National Park with my friend Dhurba Aryal.
{{< figure src="img/bike_touring_in_nepal/bike_touring_in_nepal.jpg" title="Bike Touring in Nepal" >}}
The total distance was around ~260 km (162 mi). We completed it over two days.
We started from Pokhara around lunchtime on Friday afternoon (around ~1 pm) after we finished our work at [Mountain Thunder](https://www.mountainthunder.com/) (the startup I'm working at).
We stayed overnight at Bharatpur (about ~50 km from Pokhara) at [The Forest House](https://www.theforesthouse.com/). We had a delicious dinner there before going to sleep early as we had planned to get up early next morning.
Next morning we got up early (around ~5 am) so we could reach Chitwan by noon. We were planning to do a lot of sightseeing there as it was going to be our last day out biking.
{{< figure src="img/bike_touring_in_nepal/biking_day_1_1.jpg" title="Day 1 - First Leg" >}}
We rode till Bharatpur (another ~50 km from where we stayed) without any major issues except that it was pretty hot around there.
Once we reached Bharatpur we had breakfast there before heading towards Chitwan National Park.
{{< figure src="img/bike_touring_in_nepal/biking_day_1_2.jpg" title="Day 1 - Second Leg" >}}
The ride towards Chitwan National Park was probably one of my favorite parts during this trip as it was pretty scenic! There were lots of beautiful rice fields along the way.
Once we reached Chitwan National Park we stopped by at an elephant camp there. It was so much fun interacting with those elephants!
{{< figure src="img/bike_touring_in_nepal/chitwan_elephants.jpg" title="Elephants at Chitwan National Park" >}}
After spending some time there we headed towards Sauraha (the main town near Chitwan National Park) where we had lunch before visiting a rhino sanctuary nearby.
{{< figure src="img/bike_touring_in_nepal/rhinoceros_sanctuary.jpg" title="Rhinoceros Sanctuary" >}}
We spent some time exploring Sauraha before heading back towards Kathmandu via Gaidahawa.
{{< figure src="img/bike_touring_in_nepal/gaidahawa.jpg" title="Gaidahawa - The Gateway To Kathmandu Valley" >}}
It was quite late by then (around ~8 pm) so we decided to stay overnight at Gaidahawa itself rather than cycling all the way back to Kathmandu that night.
We found this nice guest house called [Shree Mandir Guest House](http://shreemandirguesthouse.com/) where we stayed overnight.
{{< figure src="img/bike_touring_in_nepal/gaidahawa_guest_house.jpg" title="Gaidahawa Guest House" >}}
Next morning we got up early again (around ~5 am) so that we could reach Kathmandu by noon.
{{< figure src="img/bike_touring_in_nepal/biking_day_2_1.jpg" title="Day 2 - First Leg" >}}
We rode till Nagarkot where we stopped by at this place called [Chautara Restaurant](https://www.tripadvisor.in/Restaurant_Review-g297604-d7365524-Reviews-Chautara-Restaurant-Nagarkot_District_Narayani_Zone.html).
{{< figure src="img/bike_touring_in_nepal/chautara_restaurant.jpg" title="Chautara Restaurant" >}}
From Nagarkot we headed towards Kathmandu via Bhaktapur. We reached Kathmandu around noon.
It was an amazing trip! I would definitely do more bike tours like this one!<|file_sep|># Personal Website

# What Is A Research Proposal?
A research proposal is basically a document that outlines your proposed research project. It includes details such as:
* The problem you want to solve
* Why you want to solve it
* How you plan on solving it
A good research proposal should also include:
* An introduction
* A literature review
* Methodology
* Expected results/outcomes
## Introduction
The introduction should provide an overview of your proposed project including:
* What problem are you trying to solve?
* Why do you think this problem needs solving?
* How does your proposed solution differ from existing solutions?
## Literature Review
The literature review should summarize previous research related to your proposed topic including:
* Key findings from previous studies
* Gaps in existing knowledge
* How does your proposed research fill these gaps?
## Methodology
The methodology section describes how you plan on conducting your proposed research including:
* Data collection methods (e.g., surveys/interviews/experiments)
* Data analysis techniques (e.g., statistical tests/regression models)
* Expected challenges during data collection/analysis
## Expected Results/Outcomes
The expected results/outcomes section describes what you hope will happen once your proposed research has been completed including:
* New insights gained from completing your proposed project
* Potential applications/use cases for your proposed solution
* Future directions based on findings from your proposed project
# Tips On Writing A Research Proposal

This is an article I wrote about funding opportunities available for international students who want to pursue postgraduate study in Australia or New Zealand.
# Introduction
International students looking for funding opportunities can apply for scholarships offered by Australian universities or New Zealand universities through their respective government agencies like AusAID or NZTE respectively.
There are also other options available such as applying directly through individual universities themselves or even applying directly through private organizations like Rotary Clubs etc...
Here are some examples:
## Australian Government Scholarships
### Australian Awards Scholarships
These scholarships are offered by AusAID which is part of DFAT (Department Of Foreign Affairs And Trade). They provide financial assistance towards tuition fees living expenses travel costs etc... They cover both undergraduate postgraduate levels depending upon eligibility criteria set forth by individual universities offering these awards.<|file|>---
