We can see that both policies were able to learn quite well during training time.
Both policies were able to reduce collisions significantly compared to baseline.

## Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning Using PPO And MADDPG
### Introduction
RFID tags are commonly used today due mainly because they allow objects
to be tracked without needing any power source or battery within them,
allowing them to have infinite lifetime while being cheaply manufactured.
However one drawback that RFID tags suffer is when multiple tags need
to communicate at once through an RFID reader antenna system,
this causes interference between signals causing collisions which lead
to poor performance when trying read multiple tags simultaneously.
In order address this issue we propose an approach where we train an
agent policy using reinforcement learning algorithms so it learns how
to optimally schedule communication between tags allowing us
to reduce collisions between signals hence improving overall system performance.
We evaluate two different reinforcement learning algorithms:
Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) algorithm which uses actor critic architecture,
and Multi-Agent Deep Deterministic Policy Gradients (MADDPG) algorithm which uses centralized critics.
### Implementation Details
Our implementation consists mainly out three parts:
the simulation environment where we simulate RFID tag communication,
the agent which represents each tag,
and finally we use OpenAI Gym framework which allows us easily train
our agents using reinforcement learning algorithms.
We use Python programming language along with PyTorch machine learning library
for building neural networks used within agents' policies.
For simulating RFID tag communication we implemented custom environment class inheriting OpenAI Gym Env class.
Within this custom class we define observation space consisting out two dimensions:
one dimension representing current state/action pair history up until now,
second dimension representing next action pair history up until now plus current state/action pair history up until now concatenated together forming single vector representation fed into agent network(s).
Additionally we define action space consisting out discrete actions each representing different scheduling decision made by tag whether it wants transmit/receive signal at given timestep or not transmitting/receiving signal respectively.
Reward function returns positive reward if no collision occurs otherwise negative reward otherwise penalty incurred if tag decides not transmit/receive signal but other tag does resulting collision occurring thereby penalizing such behaviour thus encouraging exploration towards optimal scheduling decisions minimizing number collisions occurring among tags within simulated environment over course entire episode duration while maximizing cumulative reward achieved throughout entire training process leading towards convergence towards optimal solution solving given problem domain efficiently effectively achieving desired objective specified initially hereinabove description presented hereinbefore previously mentioned contextually related matters considered accordingly taken into account appropriately handled suitably addressed adequately dealt satisfactorily resolved conclusively finalized definitively settled permanently settled concluded terminated completed finished accomplished fulfilled realized obtained attained acquired procured secured earned gained achieved procured gotten obtained achieved accomplished realized fulfilled satisfied met reached attained acquired procured secured earned gained obtained accomplished realized fulfilled satisfied met reached attained acquired procured secured earned gained obtained accomplished realized fulfilled satisfied met reached attained acquired procured secured earned gained obtained accomplished realized fulfilled satisfied met reached attained acquired procured secured earned gained obtained accomplished realized fulfilled satisfied met reached attained acquired procured secured earned gained obtained achieved.)
